Why a tablet PC laptop over a standard laptop? Well the advantage is that you can write directly on to the screen using a pen that is supplied. Tablet PC laptops are flexible because you can write on the touch screen using the supplied pen in the same way you would write using a normal pen and paper. This means you are not limited to the characters and objects given on a standard computer and enables the user to draw complex images such as diagrams, drawings and writing which can’t easily be done on a standard keyboard and mouse – particularly useful for people who use specialist symbols and images.
This ability to write directly onto the screen makes tablet PC laptops useful in many different situations such as in a meeting at work or for a student at school. Tablet PC laptops also has a feature to audio visual record meetings or classes so you never miss anything that is said if the speaker is going faster than you can write. Obviously with this feature you can playback lessons or meetings at a later time – useful if you want to share it with a friend who missed the meeting or lesson.
Tablet Netbook
A tablet laptop can also be used in presentations like a standard laptop but since it has a touch screen that can be written on, more complex information can be conveyed. It can therefore be used like a white or blackboard as in a meeting or classroom with anything that is written on the tablet laptop projected onto a large overhead screen. The flexibility to convey complex drawings and images also encourages more interaction than a standard laptop because anyone present at the meeting or class can come to the tablet PC laptop and write on it.
Handwriting can also be converted to computer fonts using handwriting recognition software. Advantageous for people with poor handwriting or for people who would want to first write something by hand and then save it in a Word document or send the converted text in an email.
Tablet PC laptops are light and designed to be carried around. Like a standard laptop the tablet laptop has a keyboard and screen but unlike a standard laptop the tablet PC laptop has a touch screen that can be swiveled around so that it can be used like a notepad. This allows the user to easily write on it while standing up or even walking which can’t easily be done with a standard laptop.
The touch screen is also chemically strengthened to resist scratching. Because the tablet PC laptop is designed to be carried around and written on it is also designed to be more robust than a standard laptop. Manufacturers of tablet PC laptops therefore test their products for scratch and impact resistance.
So why a tablet PC laptop over a standard laptop? Well it has the features of a standard laptop but with added robustness and the benefit of writing on the touch screen for note taking, better mobility and truly using it on the go.

Mini laptops or netbooks are the new category of laptops, they are designed as a secondary system that you can carry anywhere you go. Their size is a little bigger than a paperback book, they weigh less than 3 pounds and have battery-saving features. Mini laptop displays are about 7 to 10 inches together with about 512MB to 1GB of RAM and a traditional hard drive. Unlike other laptops, netbooks have slower energy saving processors, so games won’t run as well.
If you are in the market for a netbook here are some things to look for and watch out for:
Tablet Netbook
First you have to know what you want to use it for and what your budget it. If you are looking for a full featured laptop computer then don’t buy a mini laptop or netbook. The processor of a netbook is less powerful than a common laptop, this is to provide longer battery life. Mini laptops are good for doing homework on a word processing program, surfing the internet, working on spreadsheets or other office work and presentations.
Buy a netbook with a screen size of 8.9 inch or larger, because if your screen is small the disadvantage is you won’t be able to read an entire web page. This is less of a problem if you have a larger screen.
Get a 6 cell battery for it will offer you a whole lot more running time compared to the standard 3 cell batter. Aside from the additional cost you may find it a little heavier, but I think the trade-offs are worth it.
Try out the keypad first, and see if you’re comfortable with it.
Also check the software that comes pre-installed. Is it everything you need?
Shop around, list all the prices you find and compare them.
Do not load heavy applications on your mini laptop, since they are mini they do not have as much memory compared to normal laptops. It is also important for you to know which operating system is best for your mini laptop. Here is some information of the two most commonly used operating systems on mini laptops.
Linux: It considerably lessens the chance of a malware attack because of its smaller user base. The makers also designed its interface to be as easy as windows. There is just one disadvantage, you might have a hard time installing new programs and may need to do some tinkering in the command line. On the whole Linux is getting easier to use all the time, but I would still say only more computer savvy people should choose it for now.
Windows: This is mainly the most common operating system for mini laptops. This OS is compatible with almost every accessory or software program in the market. But because of their massive market share, they are targeted by malware attacks. So you have to have a strong security program.
Mini laptops are much cheaper compared to a normal laptops. So it is easier for you top find a cheap mini laptop deal online. Today there are lots of trustworthy sites online, and if you are not sure if they can be trusted you could always check reviews of them online.

Since their introduction, mini laptops have taken the laptop world by storm. They are also known as netbooks as they are highly geared for surfing the new and viewing online content. If you have ever used on of these mini laptops, it is easy to see why it has been such a phenomenon. They are very portable, affordable and extremely practical.
At the time of writing (Jan 2010), one of the latest mini laptop models in the market would be the Asus Eee 1005PE 10.1-inch netbook. It is one of the latest models in the iconic Asus Eee netbook series and one of the most exciting netbook models yet! No mini laptop reviews will be complete without mentioning the 1005PE. Generally, the Asus 1005PE is almost identical to the older (and very successful) 1005HA model except for several upgrades.
Tablet Netbook
First of all, it comes with the new Intel Atom N450 processor (1.66Ghz). Compared to other netbook models, the Asus Eee 1005PE has one of the widest ranges of features. It comes with Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11b/g/n wi-fi connectivity, a multi-touch track pad, stereo speakers, and the Windows 7 Starter OS. This model now also comes with a longer battery life. The battery on the Asus Eee 1005PE can last up to a mind-boggling 14 hours on one full charge. Despite the upgrades, the Asus Eee 1005PE remains very well priced. It is currently selling at around 9 per unit.
Another of my favorite netbook models would have to be the Toshiba Mini laptop. This netbook is also a staple in any mini laptop reviews. It has a set of great specs/features, a sleek design and a comfortable keyboard. I am also a sucker for Toshiba laptops (they are very reliable and durable) as with many, so I am sure that the Toshiba brand alone would be enough to propel the sales of the Toshiba Mini. If you would like to get something cheaper, you can consider the Acer Aspire One or Dell Mini netbook. These two models are considered as ‘entry-level’ netbooks.
